In the quiet corners of our nation, there reside countless stories of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. These stories belong to the heroes who have selflessly served our great nation, and today, we pause to express our deepest gratitude to our Canadian veterans.

From the frosty battlefields of Vimy Ridge to the scorching deserts of Afghanistan, Canadian veterans have answered the call of duty with unwavering dedication. They have stood shoulder to shoulder with their comrades, braving the harshest conditions and the greatest dangers, all in the name of freedom, peace, and the values that define our country.

Throughout history, Canada has been blessed with brave men and women who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, and today, we thank each and every one of them for their service. It is their sacrifices that have allowed us to live in a land where we can cherish our freedoms, express our beliefs, and build a better future.

To our World War II veterans, who fought for liberty on foreign shores and helped shape the world we know today, we say thank you. Your resilience in the face of adversity and your determination to stand against tyranny will forever be an inspiration.

To our Korean War veterans, who answered the call to defend democracy on the Korean Peninsula, we say thank you. Your dedication to preserving peace and your bravery in the face of adversity have left an indelible mark on history.

To our peacekeeping veterans, who have served in countless missions around the world, we say thank you. Your tireless efforts to promote peace and stability in conflict-ridden regions have made Canada a symbol of hope and goodwill.

To our veterans of the Afghan conflict, who faced the challenges of modern warfare with valor and determination, we say thank you. Your sacrifices remind us of the high cost of freedom, and we honor your dedication to the cause of justice and security.

To our veterans who continue to serve as first responders and in other capacities, we say thank you. Your commitment to the safety and well-being of our communities is a testament to the values that define Canada.

On this day, and every day, let us remember that our Canadian veterans are not just a part of our history; they are a living testament to the strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit of our nation. As a grateful nation, we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be fully repaid.

To our Canadian veterans, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your service and sacrifices have made Canada a better place, and we will forever honor your legacy.

Lest we forget.
