CORNWALL — The Ghost Walk for Charity opens today at Cornwall Square with a fresh twist for 2025: a guided “Night Out at the Movies” that threads visitors through 13 classic horror film set-pieces, all built and performed by local volunteers. We were invited for a sneak-peek run-through before opening, and even on rehearsal night the scares were already landing.
Launched in 2017, Ghost Walk for Charity is a registered non-profit run entirely by volunteers, with no paid salaries. The organization stages a 15–20 minute, immersive walkthrough each October and donates 100% of profits to local charities selected by its volunteer board at year’s end. Ghost Walk For Charity
Guests are welcomed by Mike Turcotte, the event’s Chairman and recent recipient of the Citizen of the year award, who explained that although the actors were still working on their levitating skills, screams were guaranteed to get better.
This year’s concept leans into cinematic horror: each section reads like a set on a film lot, with actors learning their cues and timing as the run begins. Organizers expect the show to tighten quickly over the first weekend as the 250-strong cast settles into character.

This year’s proceeds will support Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Cornwall OSPCA, the Children’s Treatment Centre, Cornwall Comfort Quilts, Laurencrest Youth Services, and the Social Development Council.
Where & when: Ghost Walk for Charity runs inside Cornwall Square (1 Water St. E.). Dates, hours, including family-friendly non-scare periods, and accessibility details are posted on the event website and social channels. Ghost Walk For Charity
Why it matters: Beyond the thrills, Ghost Walk channels Cornwall’s Halloween spirit into tangible community support, distributing all profits to multiple local causes each year. Ghost Walk For Charity
