MISCHIEF, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with one count of mischief – destroys or damages property as well as two counts of assault. It is alleged on Jan. 3, 2026, the man damaged his neighbour’s motor vehicle and assaulted two individuals. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 7, 2026, he attended Cornwall Police Service headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 12, 2026.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrants and charged with two counts of fail to attend and one count of assault with a weapon.

  • It is alleged on Oct. 27, 2025, the woman threw an object at her boyfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
  • It is also alleged on Nov. 20, 2025, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
  • Finally, it is alleged on Nov. 27, 2025, the woman was once again scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Jan. 7, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The warrant was executed and she was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT, FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with release order. On Nov. 12, 2025, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend. It is further alleged on Nov. 12, 2025, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. On Jan. 7, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order as well as fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Dec. 23, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour as well as a release order with the relevant condition to report to the bail supervision program. It is also alleged on this date, the man failed to report to the bail supervision program. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 7, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000. On Jan. 2, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a McConnell Avenue business in relation to a theft, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman stole lottery tickets from the business. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for her arrest. On Jan. 7, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 12, 2026.

REFUSAL

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 8, 2026, and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. In the early morning hours of Jan. 8, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to the area of Seventh Street East in relation to an impaired operation complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. While police were conducting an impaired operation investigation, he allegedly refused to comply with the demand to complete a standardized field sobriety test. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Jan. 29, 2026. In addition to the refusal charge, his license was suspended for 90 days, and his car was impounded for seven days.
