CORNWALL, ON – Cornwall’s own Sky Studios is celebrating an incredible showing at a recent National Aerial Competition held in Toronto, Ontario, where seven athletes represented the city on the national stage at the Canadian Pole and Aerial Championships (CPAC).
The competitors, ranging in age from just 12 years to 62 years old, earned their spots at Nationals after successfully qualifying at Regional Championships held earlier this March. Their performances showcased not only technical skill and artistry but also the growing strength of Cornwall’s aerial arts community.
Several Sky Studios athletes brought home podium finishes:
● Tracy Jans – 1st Place, Aerial Art Specialty
● Amber Pichie and Tracy Jans – 1st Place, Aerial Hoop Doubles
● Kaitlyn Shute – 3rd Place, Pole Art 2
● Charlotte Flaro – 3rd Place, Junior Aerial Hoop
● Natalie Rowe – 4th Place, Aerial Hoop Masters
In addition to her division win, Tracy Jans, owner of Sky Studios, received the prestigious Overall High Score Award across all Aerial Divisions, making her performance the highest-scoring aerial routine of the entire aerial sport side of the competition.
“We are incredibly proud of every athlete who stepped onto that stage,” said Tracy. “To see performers ranging from youth to Masters level adults competing at a national level is a testament to the dedication, courage, and passion within our studio.”
Since opening its doors, Sky Studios has become much more than a fitness facility. Offering classes in aerial hoop, pole fitness, hammocks, silks, and other aerial disciplines, the studio has built a reputation for fostering confidence, creativity, and community.
The studio’s annual showcases have become highly anticipated local events. Most recently, Root to Sky, held at Aultsville Theatre, sold out and highlighted the remarkable talent of Sky Studios students and performers.
Sky Studios has also expanded beyond the studio walls with the launch of its Performance Team, bringing aerial entertainment to community and private events throughout the region. Recent appearances include Cornwall Art Walk and local weddings. The team is currently preparing to perform at Cornwall Chaos, a local community event raising money for hospice.
Despite its growing success, members say the heart of Sky Studios remains unchanged.
“One of the things that makes Sky Studios special is that we’re like a family,” said Jans. “Whether someone is stepping into their first class or competing nationally, everyone is supported and encouraged to grow.”
With a growing membership, expanding performance opportunities, and now national championship titles to its name, Sky Studios continues to elevate Cornwall’s presence in the aerial arts world—one flight at a time.
