There are a total of 56 cabs in the City of Cornwall relative to its population, and there are two cab companies providing service to citizens.
Cab companies in Cornwall operate under the supervision of a board formed by the Cornwall Police Service.
Every year, 56 cabs pay the police service a sum of Rs. 9,800 for license renewal. Thus, there are approximately 200 drivers and owners who pay the police service a sum of Rs. 10,000 annually for the renewal of their cab licenses. Recently, there has been news circulating in our city that Uber may soon be allowed to operate here by the City of Cornwall. This may or may not happen. But suppose this happens, won’t the business of both cab companies be affected?
We have heard that in any city, unless the city administration gives permission, no one can be there who creates a situation of unrest and uncertainty in the city.
Besides that , we support economy we spend our money local where as uber and lift take about 60% of money outside Canada.
I have always seen the local community in Cornwall supporting local businesses. So I still have the same good and positive hope.
I would like to say here that all city councilors in any city are representatives of the people of that city who represent them in the city hall with the votes of these same citizens, become their voice in every difficulty and stand by them. We hope that if something like this is going to happen, the representatives of the people will protect their citizens and support them in every situation. As citizens, we have a good relationship with everyone.
