On January 20th, I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Soup’s On, an annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society held this year at the Army, Navy, and Air Force Club at 14 Marlborough Street North. The fundraiser consisted of a soup tasting competition. I had the opportunity to meet the chefs and vote for my favorite soup in two categories – Community Division and Professional Division. For $10 you had the choice of one 12 oz. bowl, three 4 oz. bowls, or six 2 oz. samples.
The event was sponsored by Minimax (Platinum), Walmart Logistics (Gold), Farm Boy and Morbern (Silver), Seaway Valley Meat Cutting Institute, Nurse Next Door, Bayshore, The Brick, and Dev (Bronze), and the Army, Navy, and Air Force Club (host and sponsor)

Competing in the Community Division were the Cornwall Police Service (Cheeseburger Soup), the RCMP (Hamburger Soup), Walmart Logistics (Spark Soup), and seen in the header photo Brent Stang, SDG Taekwondo (Creamy Potato, Bacon and Corn). Vying for a win in the Professional Division were Farm Boy (Minestrone Soup), Chartwell Retirement Residences (Taco Soup), and Southbridge Cornwall (Butter Chicken).
Official Winners are:
The Judges choice was Southbridge Butter Chicken for professional and community chef, was SDG Taekwondo with Creamy potato bacon and corn. Community voters (People’s Choice) chose Southbridge also for professional and RCMP Hamburger soup for community.
Congratulations to all participants! You are all winners in my eyes.
The event also included a draw for a gift basket and a 50/50 draw.
