Eight local restaurants and eateries are going head-to-head this September with $2 from every Ultimate Burger sold supporting United Way Centraide SDG
CORNWALL, ON (September 1, 2026) – September just got a whole lot more delicious. United Way Centraide SDG is bringing the United Way Ultimate Burger Battle to Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Cornwall and Akwesasne (SDGCA) for the first time, inviting the community to eat, vote and make an impact, one delicious burger at a time.
From September 1 to 30, eight local restaurants will battle it out to create their own take on the Ultimate Burger, with the community invited to taste the contenders and decide which one deserves bragging rights.
And there’s more at stake than just creating SDGCA’s Ultimate Burger. For each burger sold, $2 will be donated to United Way Centraide SDG, supporting local programs and services that address some of the most pressing challenges facing our communities, including poverty, housing and mental health.
“We wanted to create something that was fun that has a real purpose behind it. This is an opportunity to support local restaurants, discover some incredible burgers and, at the same time, invest in programs making a difference right here in SDGCA,” said Stephanie Lapointe, Interim Executive Director of United Way Centraide SDG. “The 2026 participating restaurants have really embraced the challenge, and we can’t wait to see which burger takes the top spot.”
Participating restaurants are competing for three titles:
- Ultimate Burger of the Year – determined by a panel of burger ambassadors
- People’s Choice Ultimate Burger – chosen by the community through public voting
- Most Ultimate Burgers Sold – awarded to the restaurant that sells the most Ultimate Burgers
The eight participating restaurants are: Craftman’s Café, Goldmyne’s, Jack’s Pub, Jet Set Pub, King George Restaurant, Schnitzels European Flavours, Séguin Patate, and Tauro.
The Ultimate Burger Battle is part of a growing national United Way initiative that brings local restaurants and communities together to raise funds. Across the country, thousands of burgers have been enjoyed through the competition.
“Local businesses play such an important role in the strength of our communities,” added Lapointe. “The Ultimate Burger Battle gives them a fun way to showcase their creativity, connect with their customers and give back, while giving our community a chance to discover some incredible local food.”
So come hungry, try them all, cast your vote and help crown SDGCA’s Ultimate Burger.
Let the battle begin.
