A New Element of Culture in the Cornwall restaurant scene

When Cui Ying Chen and her partner decided to follow their dream of opening their own restaurant, they could not think of a better location to open than Cornwall.

“We love the small city feel of Cornwall,” explained Mrs. Chen. “It’s peaceful, close to Montreal and Ottawa, and it’s multicultural.”

Mr. and Mrs. Chen have brought a new element of culture to the city with the recent opening of their restaurant, Ruby’s Restaurant.

“We named the restaurant after the stone,” explained Mrs. Chen. “We wanted to choose a name that represents value and quality, like our business. It also has a nice sound to it!”

The menu at Ruby’s features a variety of meal choices specializing in Japanese, Chinese and Thai food options.

“Japanese sushi is becoming increasingly popular,” said Mrs. Chen. “Thai food is enjoyed by many, and Chinese food is traditional. Raw food options like sushi have great health benefits as it contains proteins and promotes increased longevity. We like to encourage our customers to try new things.”

The Chen’s have restaurant experience in Hong Kong, China and Toronto, and are pleased to be learning more and more about our Canadian culture and the English language.

“We want all of our customers to feel welcome. Our staff are young and active, and we hope to bring new energy to the restaurant and the City of Cornwall.”

Ruby’s Restaurant is currently offering a promotion to their customers (until Christmas) with discounts of 20% on Dine-In, and 10% on Take-Out business.

“It is certainly nice to see a young couple spread their entrepreneurship wings in our community”, said Candy Pollard of the Business Enterprise Centre. “The Chen’s have brought their experience from larger cities such as Hong Kong to Cornwall, and offer a unique perspective on Japanese, Chinese and Thai food. We wish them much success in their new venture”.

Ruby’s Restaurant is located at 315 Montreal Road and is open from 11 am to 10 pm Monday to Thursday, 11 am to 10:30 pm Friday to Saturday, and 3 pm to 10 pm on Sunday.
