house-fire-lightened-smoke-and-rain-795379-mAs many of you know, there have been a few fires in the city lately, with two of the main ones being on Carleton and Louisa Streets in the East end of Cornwall.

There were many families affected as the fires consumed multiple homes leaving a handful of families affected. Luckily, only one man sustained fire injuries to his left and police and firefighters were quick to respond and brought all people and pets to safety.

A special thank you already goes out to many generous members of our great city, in Maxville and outlying areas as donations have been pouring in. However, donations are still greatly needed. If you would like to donate items, anything would be appreciated. Here is a small list of the people affected:

  • Pregnant mother needing clothes (size Large) as well as clothes for her husband (medium-large)
  • Mother of 3 children needing Diapers immediately (size 4) as well as clothes for the children (an 18-month old girl and a 6 year old girl, sizes 2 and size 5-6 and one 4 year-old boy, size 5) Their mother needs clothing (size Large) and their father needs size medium with size 32
  • Another couple needs size Ladies medium-large clothing and size X-Large men’s clothing
  • Furniture, pots and pans and household items would also be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Vicki at 613-935-7153 for donations or contact Karen at 613-861-9229 to arrange a drop-off or pick-up of large items. Thank you also to these two local women for being the leads on getting donations to the families.
