CORNWALL, ON April 11, 2016 Once again, Cornwall’s Own Kevin Rivette has represented the Franco Ontarian community of our region by winning a back to back Elimination and Quarter Final Spot Win in Quebec famed talent competition “Fais Moi Ta Toune” in Asbestos Quebec . Rivette was chosen by the panel and public to share along with the final 24 contestants and will be again competing for the last 12 final positions in the semi-final rounds which will take place on May 7 and May 14, 2016 with the Grand Finale on May 28, 2016 in Asbestos Quebec with a $10,000 bursary offered to the winner.
In the start of this journey, the panel of thousands of vocalists across Canada competed in gaining the hearts and musical souls of the panel to win a spot in the provincial “voice off”. Rivette won this by doing an outstanding version of Joe Cocker’s known hit: “You can leave your hat on!” Then this past weekend Rivette gained the spot in the elimination rounds with Eddie Floyd’’s “Knock on Wood”, with inspiration by Michael Bolton groove .
Rivette, was surprised to discover that he was asked the very next day in the afternoon to do his quarter final rounds immediately. “Honestly, I thought that they wanted to do their cuts right away! I doubted myself and seriously questioned …. What should I do? But knowing to never back down on a challenge, Rivette gladly accepted the challenge, and wowed them with Wild Cherry’s Song: Play that Funky Music” with a very special arrangement that was done by Guy St Jean or better known as “DeGiancinto”, a very popular DJ and Mastermind Mixologist who also owns Sprout Studios in Florida. This background was created for Kevin’s performance at an Operation Enfant Soleil charity venue just the weekend before by DeGiancinto’s team with the goal of helping the cause and for the charity that Kevin and Guy believe in as friends and as musicians. But what turned out to be just a background track to a charity performance turned out to the exact key that Rivette needed in his performance to gain that last seat in the final stage of this competition round.
“I was truly wondering just this past few months if I should continue this personal rollercoaster ride or some might say: « Mid Life Musical Crisis », but I have to say, I am feeling more confident in my musical ability as time goes on. The more venues I do, the more the crowd loves what I do. And that is what this journey is all about. Having fun and entertaining people. When they respond, it’s so rewarding. Playing for empty chairs is never rewarding for any musician. Actually, it very demoralizing. I can’t thank the people who spend the money to come to our shows and encourage us by giving us the ability to give it our all as performers and people. And for those who might not be able to come to the venues due to financial, medical or travel reasons, they are the only show (that give the performers the opportunity to do a LIVE WEB CAST LIVE STREAM of the actual show. In fact, we had people from France, US VIRGIN ISLANDS and around the world tuned into our show!” The producers of the show truly put our talents and our comfort first before the show! That’s so rare in today’s production world. I personally wish to thank them for giving us all the chance to make that happen! And perhaps if many people show interest in the area, it would be nice to see a bus tour of our Cornwall and surrounding area folks visit this truly amazing show!”
Rivette wishes to extend and invite to all to follow his final stages of the performance on May 14, 2016 where the Live Stream Link will be posted one hour prior to the show at HYPERLINK “https://www.facebook.com/concoursfaismoitatoune” https://www.facebook.com/concoursfaismoitatoune.
