Paul, a 67-year old married father of one, was fueling up his vehicle and went inside the gas station to check his ticket on the Ticket Checker. “The cashier asked if I wanted her to scan my ticket and I said, ‘oh, I know I’ve won $100,000,’” he smiled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque. “The cashier thought I was joking until she scanned the ticket and the terminal froze,” he laughed.

Since his win, the retired horse racer has purchased a ‘new-to-him’ 2016 Dodge Ram with low mileage that is in mint condition. He plans to enjoy his time and his winnings at his hobby farm.

“This is perfect timing. If I had won this when I was younger, it would have been operating money and it would be gone. At this point in my life, I will do the right things with my windfall and it will last longer,” he concluded.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto has resumed in-person prize claims for winning-ticket holders of $50,000 or more by-appointment only. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Currently, OLG is reaching out to major prize winners ($50,000+) who have been unable to claim their prizes due to COVID-19 to schedule appointments for in-person prize claims. In the coming weeks, OLG will open appointments to anyone wishing to claim their prize in-person at the Prize Centre.

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Main Street in Alexandria.

CORNWALL RETIRED CROSSING GUARD CELEBRATES $100,000 ENCORE WIN

TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Ronald Blofield of Cornwall. Ronaldmatched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the June 5, 2020 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000!

Ronald, a 75-year old father, discovered his win at home when he checked his tickets on OLG.ca. “I kept matching ENCORE numbers and drew a line in ink under the number to be sure,” he recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his cheque. “At that moment I realized the win was real – and a few days later I visited a retailer to self-scan and confirm my win.”

The retired crossing guard plans to use some of his winnings to pay bills. “For the first time in 40 years I will own a car that has no payments on it,” he smiled. “I’ll also be planning a trip next summer to Western Canada to visit friends.”

“I’ve kept this win a secret until today,” Ronald shared.
