When you say goodbye to high school, you have to choose your major, and sometimes, this decision is harder than it seems. Of course, all degrees are interesting and complex in their own way, but you will still have a high workload, dealing with papers, projects, and assignments all the time (unless you decide to pay for essay and delegate some part of your tasks to such services as papercoach, for example). While it is pretty common to switch majors during college years, statistics say that there are certain degrees that can be pursued now and will bring you money years ahead. In this guide, we will talk about the top ones that have enough potential to help your career growth.

Top popular degrees to make you money now and in the future

While it is extremely important to like what you are doing and, based on this, build your knowledge, skills, and professional career, it is also helpful to know what degrees can promise you nailing a well-paid interesting job when you graduate. Of course, you can work in the desired field even without a degree, but getting one, you will show your employers that you are committed to this job and aim to work for years to become experienced in this sphere. A relevant degree also proves that you have relevant skills in addition to time-management and problem-solving.

On this list, you will find top college degrees that will be in demand for at least several years from now:

Civil engineering

This degree has always been complex, so the question «Who can help me do my math homework?» will be asked more than you could expect. However, almost anyone who has been living in a big city has benefited from this degree. While the professional responsibilities of other people are various, civil engineers have only one task: keep our lives moving. Shortly, they plan, build, and maintain roads and railway lines (and all systems helping people transit), manage links and take care of the environment. Besides, they earn around 96K annually;

Physics and Math

For some reason, these disciplines are underestimated, but in fact, their combination becomes perfect for students who are interested in both subjects but still not sure about career opportunities. As these degrees are not very popular, there is a small number of applicants and thus, graduates, which means a lack of specialists in this field. When it comes to job offers, this major can become a perfect fit in multiple industries, including economics, finance, and UI/UX design of the software. Approximate salaries start at $110K annually;

Statistics

This major is quite close to Math and is usually featured with it, but it`s also offered as a separate degree choice in many universities in the US. Students on this program will have to learn how to manage data in wider contexts, and these skills are required in many industries. In one of the interviews, the scientists described this job as one of the sexiest and the skill as one of the essential ones in the next decades. Salaries rise from $57K to $98K per year;

Nursing

The role of a nurse has been considered one of the highest in growth all over the US. By 2024, researchers estimate around 440K new posts to be created, and it means that graduating with this qualification, you are likely to enter the professional world at once. It concerns not only nurses but anyone in the healthcare industry as it will never lose demand. Besides, if you study hard, you can reach significant financial rewards like $74K annually, according to the average salary report. Choosing nursing, you will never have a lack of job offers;

Informational technology

In the era of digitalization, this industry is probably one of the most popular, necessary, and top demanded, and it is obvious. All people have accounts in social networks, while all businesses have to create an online presence to reach their clients. New websites and mobile apps are released every week, and this tendency is likely to last for the next several decades. It means that becoming a software developer or receiving a qualification in design, testing, or business analysis will let you not worry about the future. Salaries in this field start from $102K annually, but this number keeps growing;

Business

One of the popular degrees that will probably never lose their popularity is business. Doing business can mean anything, from selling products to advertising other businesses on the web. Anyone can start a company today, and to make it successful, it will be good to get a business degree to understand the key principles and acquire the necessary skills to run it the right and profitable way. Completing a business degree, you are likely to do well financially, and as you know, according to Forbes, businesses bring the largest average starting salaries. For example, business majors can reach $186K of annual profit.
