PAWS FIRST, a first happening September 26th

On Saturday September 26th, the Sauve Tax Services office will be holding an event that, as far as we know, is unlike any event that has ever been held before in Cornwall.  They will be giving away $1,000 worth of cat and dog food to those who have been affected by COVID and are finding themselves in hard times.

Josée Sauvé, owner of Sauve Tax Services, was inspired by Dr. Jeff Young: Rocky Mountain Vet in Denver, Colorado, whose show she has been watching since it went on the air in 2015. Dr. Young bought $5,000 worth of cat and dog food and gave it away to families with pets going through a rough time due to COVID.

The $15 or $20 a family does not have to spend on dog or cat food means that they can spend that money on paying bills or feeding their family.  Josée has both a cat and a dog (a rescue) so she knows how expensive it is to feed them.

“It’s not about us as individuals, it’s about community and doing what we can to help,” said Josée. “As Dr. Jeff said “Giving a little bit just makes it easier on everybody else”. In March 2020, Sauve Tax Services gave away 10 tablets to children who needed them for at home learning and seniors in nursing homes to allow them to communicate with their loved ones.  We were so grateful for the outpouring of gratitude and yet – it is us that THANK all of you!”

“We don’t know at this time if this will be a yearly event or just a one-time event due to COVID. If people need our help next year – we will do it again!  We will continue to help our community however we can and with whatever is needed,” she ended.

Anyone who needs dog food or cat food is invited to swing by Sauve Tax Services’ office on Saturday September 26th between 11AM and 5PM and pick up a bag for their pets.  They are located at 707 Twelfth Street East (off McConnell) and there will be signs up as well.

All food not picked up will be donated to our local OSPCA on Boundary Road.
