Still time to make an application before closing on February 2, 2022

(CORNWALL) – The Ontario government is investing $20 million through the Reconnect Ontario program to provide support to municipalities and festival and event organizers who are creating innovative, exciting ways to help Ontarians reconnect with their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic once it is safe to do so.

Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, is encouraging all those who are eligible to submit an application before 5 p.m., February 2, 2022.

“Our region is widely known for putting on some of the best festivals and fairs,” MPP McDonell said. “I look forward to seeing local residents reconnect at these events this year, as we enjoy our heritage and culture.”

By providing support to festivals and events through the Reconnect Ontario program, the government is delivering a much-needed boost to a sector, which has been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. We are supporting ways for applicants to engage with their communities and create local employment opportunities.

Funding may be used for expenses such as programming and production, promotion, mobile applications and website development, and implementation of health and safety measures.

Those eligible to apply to the program should read the Reconnect Ontario 2022 Application Guide and consult with their Regional Advisor to discuss their event proposal or email [email protected] with questions.

The success of this program will give Ontario’s tourism sector a much-needed boost to help recover its growth and competitiveness as it begins to emerge from the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.
