Online service allows CCH patients to view and share their hospital medical records.

August 9, 2022 – Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is celebrating a new milestone. There are now over 20,000 users registered for MyChart™, a free online service that allows CCH patients to remotely view, manage and share their hospital medical records using a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet.

Developed by Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, MyChart™ is also used by over 50 other hospitals throughout Ontario as a means of providing patients with greater access to their health information.

With MyChart™, patients at CCH can remotely view clinical information, diagnostic imaging results, doctors’ notes, and bloodwork results from any lab in Ontario.

MyChart™ also provides the ability to record share, meaning health information can be shared by patients with their families, caregivers and care teams.

Since launching the service at CCH in the spring of 2021, over 20,000 of the hospital’s patients and their family caregivers have registered for MyChart™. Combined they have accessed and shared their records nearly 100,000 times. Prior to MyChart™, patients seeking access to their hospital medical records were required to come onsite to retrieve paper copies.

“MyChart™ has greatly enhanced the ability for our patients and their family caregivers to securely access their hospital medical records, providing unprecedented access, engagement, and patient-centred care,” explains Jeanette Despatie, CCH President and Chief Executive Officer.

The introduction of MyChart™ at CCH was made possible thanks to the hospital’s 2016 integration of an Electronic Health Record to centrally and securely store, organize, and access patient records.

Patients can register for MyChart™ today by visiting www.cornwallhospital.ca/en/mychart or by speaking with a registration clerk during their next visit at the hospital. Once registered, an official MyChart™ mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices, or users can simply access their MyChart™ account using a web browser. MyChart™ is safe and secure, using the same security encryption as online banking.
