Cornwall, Ontario – The Cornwall Concert Series is proud to announce its highly anticipated return for the upcoming season, promising another year of exceptional performances at the renowned Aultsville Theatre. Continuing a 38-year tradition, the concert series remains committed to bringing world-class music to the stage, delighting audiences with an unforgettable experience. The 2023-2024 Cornwall Concert Series lineup boasts a diverse range of performances, catering to music enthusiasts seeking a unique and captivating concert experience in Cornwall’s beloved music venue.

The season kicks off on Saturday, September 16th, with a mesmerizing collaboration between the Payadora Tango Ensemble and Pointe Tango. Payadora Tango Ensemble is a contemporary chamber music group known for their exceptional renditions of Argentinian and Uruguayan tango, folk music, and original compositions inspired by these rich traditions. Partnering with Pointe Tango, a dynamic duo of dancers fusing Argentine Tango with Classical Ballet, they present “Tango in the Dark,” an enchanting story of love discovered amidst the shadows of the night.

On Sunday, October 15th, JoyRide takes concert-goers on a thrilling musical journey. Featuring Colin Maier on oboe, bass, and vocals, and Charles Cozens on accordion and piano, JoyRide is a jazz crossover duo renowned for their ability to blend different styles seamlessly. Their performance encompasses jazz, ragtime, blues, tango, gypsy, and klezmer, creating a multi-faceted experience that leaves audiences exhilarated.

As the fall concert season draws to a close on Sunday, November 5th, the Woodchippers, led by Shane Cook, take the stage. Rooted in the traditional music, song, and dance of Ontario, the Woodchippers effortlessly incorporate Celtic, folk, roots, bluegrass, and swing influences into their captivating performances. Shane Cook, a Canadian and US national fiddle champion, showcases his mastery of the Canadian old-time fiddle tradition alongside fellow musicians Emily Flack, Joe Phillips, and Kyle Waymouth. The band’s deep connection to their musical heritage and dynamic energy on stage create an unforgettable experience.

The spring concert season resumes on Sunday, April 13th, with the Zodiac Trio, an internationally acclaimed ensemble celebrated for their virtuosity and sensitivity. Comprised of clarinet, violin, and piano, the Zodiac Trio captivates audiences with innovative programming that combines 20th-century masterpieces, new works, and acclaimed original arrangements. Their program, “Tales From the Americas,” unites the two American continents through the works of George Gershwin, Astor Piazzolla, Arturo Márquez, William Bolcom, and a special tribute to Benny Goodman with arrangements by Jean-Marc Brisson.

Closing the season with grandeur, the Weston Silver Band, a favorite of the Cornwall Concert Series, takes the stage on Saturday, May 4th, with their concert titled “Hymn of the Highlands.” As a three-time North American Brass Band Champion and celebrating their 100th season, the 33 brass and percussion players of the Weston Silver Band promise a mesmerizing evening, transporting attendees to the picturesque highlands of Scotland.

Tickets for all concerts in the Cornwall Concert Series can be purchased in advance at several convenient locations, including TD Canada Trust, Jolly Tours, The Squire Shop, and the City of Cornwall Box Office at the Aquatic Centre and the Benson Centre. Subscriptions for the full series are also available at a discounted price of $125, offering access to all five captivating performances.
