A cafe may not be the first thing you have in mind when thinking of where to eat in Bali. But in the last couple of years, the cafe culture in Bali has been growing to be more than just a place where you get your morning dose of caffeine.

With the growth of social media, cafes in Bali have become more prominent than ever. It’s no wonder that every time you type “cute cafes in Bali,” you’ll get plenty of results, and each corner of the cafe will look absolutely perfect on your Instagram.

But in this list of cafes in Bali, we’ll give you more than attractive spots to hang out. These cafes deliver fantastic coffee, cozier vibes, and even better places to eat while you’re on your holiday.

1. Braud

Braud is located on the busy Jalan Mertanadi, so if you don’t look carefully enough, you’re going to miss it. But this small and industrial-looking cafe is always packed with people, and once you come inside, you’ll understand why.

Beyond the freshly baked artisan bread, the display of their pastries will tempt you from the get-go. The Kouign-Amman and the almond croissant are the absolute winners in our book. But if you’re not a fan of sweet breakfast, there are plenty of options like Welsh Rarebit with honey ham sandwich and pastrami to start your day.

2. Livingstone Seminyak

There’s no doubt that Livingstone has earned its place as one of the best places to eat in Bali. The reason is that it’s more than just a cafe where you get your morning meals. Livingstone can be your brunch, lunch, and dinner spot, and each item on the menu is a chef’s kiss!

With the option to sit in the air-conditioned room or on the semi-open terrace, savor each bite of the Baker’s Scrambled Egg Croissant, which has become one of their signature menus. But even if you go for something Indonesian like Kampoeng Fried Rice or Briton Style Fish & Chips, you’ll be smacking your lips. Oh, have we told you that their in-house coffee blends are something not to be missed?

3. Crate Cafe

For more than a decade, Crate Cafe has become a staple spot for people in Canggu to get their morning coffee and smoothie bowl. And thanks to its industrial-looking space that reminds you of a garage, you can sit surrounded by people’s chatter, or if you prefer a slightly quieter spot, head to the back and enjoy the Bali sun.

But people always come back here for the food. Whether you’re team toasties, smoothies, or hot breakfast like an omelet or scrambled eggs, everything is simply delicious! It’s no surprise that Crate Cafe always makes a list of the best cafes in Bali because of the food and the vibe. Most importantly, it’s one of the most affordable cafes in Canggu!

4. BAKED

Over the years, the popularity of BAKED doesn’t seem to slow down. On the contrary, this cafe in Berawa has never seen an empty crowd, even on weekdays! The queue can be long, so it’s wise to come early to secure a table if you really want to enjoy a morning coffee here.

At Baked, you will be greeted by the smell of freshly brewed coffee and freshly oven-baked sourdough bread. Though the specialty pour-over coffee will instantly get your morning started, it’s either the buttery croissant and pain au chocolat or the creamy Benny — poached eggs with gochujang hollandaise sauce on top of sourdough bread that will make you come back here.

5. Brunch Club Bali

When you have endless options, deciding what to eat in Bali can be daunting. But at Brunch Bali, you won’t have to think twice because most people go to this place in Legian for one thing: the porncakes. Since opening its doors in 2019, Brunch Club Bali has promised to deliver something different to the cafe culture in Bali, and with porncakes, it got everyone talking!

Porncakes are the fluffiest souffle pancakes that, in order to enjoy, you have to wait for 30 minutes. Whether you choose the two or three stacks, and whether it’s the New York Cheesecake or Honeycomb Butter, the softness and creaminess of the pancake are really out of this world!

6. Nüde Bali

Nüde truly embodies the classic brunch spot in Canggu. Since 2016, this charming cafe has been the favorite hangout, even before Canggu blossomed into the trendiest destination on the island. Its spacious atmosphere, with cozy indoor and semi-outdoor seating, creates the perfect comfy vibe, inviting you to spend hours enjoying precious moments with your best friends.

Get ready for the delicious Grilled 4 Cheese Toastie or the delightful Salmon Bagel for a lovely brunch experience! And if you’re in the mood for something more filling, the Pepperoni Melt and Big Booty Burgers are sure to satisfy your cravings and boost your appetite.

Conclusions

With so many cafes in Bali to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide which ones are the best. Our list certainly doesn’t cover all the thriving and growing numbers of cafes on the island, but these six spots give you a rough idea of what the cafe culture in Bali looks like.

And it doesn’t matter if you simply want to grab an espresso and a croissant or if you want to sit down and slowly sip your Americano while munching on the eggs benedict or the smoothie bowl, the six cafes on the list are certainly among the best places to eat in Bali that you should absolutely try to know why we’ve put them on the list.
