Cornwall, ON — On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the DEV Hotel & Conference Centre will come alive with the sights and sounds of a bygone era, as A Velvet Affair promises guests a night of vintage glamour, incredible entertainment, and heartfelt community spirit — all in support of the Optimist Club of Cornwall.

Organized through a collaborative effort between Century 21 Shield Realty Ltd., Brokerage and BoostMe Marketing, this speakeasy-inspired fundraising gala is set to be one of Cornwall’s most anticipated events of the year. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., guests will step into an immersive 1920s atmosphere and enjoy a full evening of live jazz, captivating burlesque performances, and a DJ set complete with a live saxophone set.

Each ticket includes event entry, a complimentary signature cocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres, late-night snack, and more, ensuring guests are treated to an exceptional experience from start to finish.

More than just a party, A Velvet Affair is about giving back to the community — with all proceeds going to support the work of the Optimist Club of Cornwall, whose programs benefit youth and families throughout the region.

“It’s incredibly important for our brokerage to not only serve the Cornwall community in real estate, but also to invest in its people and future,” says Troy Vaillancourt, co-owner of Century 21 Shield Realty Ltd. “Supporting the Optimist Club of Cornwall through this event is just one way we can give back to the place we’re proud to call home.”

The event is also made possible thanks to the efforts of a passionate committee: Matthew Girgis, Nick Alguire, Cody Bourget, and Nicole Isaacs, who have helped to bring this ambitious vision to life.

“This event isn’t just about creating a fun and unique night out — although we’re definitely doing that,” says Patrick Larose, owner of BoostMe Marketing. “More importantly, it’s about giving back to the community we were born and raised in — the place we now proudly raise our families. Supporting the Optimist Club of Cornwall just made perfect sense for all of us involved.”

Tickets are now available to the public and are expected to sell quickly. Guests are encouraged to dress in semi-formal attire and prepare for a night of elegance, energy, and community celebration.
