Cornwall, ON – On Saturday, May 31st, despite the damp and gloomy weather, Cornwall Fire Services held their annual Fill The Boot event and were deeply moved by the support from local residents. Thanks to the community’s kindness and willingness to give, firefighters raised $10,600 to help Muscular Dystrophy Canada continue its important work.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team,” said Fire Chief Matt Stephenson. “Raising $10,600 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada is a testament to the dedication and compassion our firefighters bring to the community not just in emergencies, but in every opportunity to make a difference. This cause is close to our hearts, and we’re honored to support it. Most importantly, we want to thank the residents of Cornwall for their incredible generosity and support. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

“This weekend’s record-breaking Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive was a huge success, and we’re incredibly grateful to the community for their generous support,” said event organizer Daniel Heroux, Firefighter.

“Thank you to the members of the Cornwall Professional Firefighters Association, our on-duty crews, and Fire Services leadership for making it all happen despite the rainy weather.

Special thanks to the Municipal Works team for helping create a safe environment, and to Mayor Justin Towndale for joining us and lending a hand to help fill the boot.”
