Seaway Seniors are kicking things off with their annual Harvest BBQ Market and Open House on Saturday, September 13 from 10 am to 3pm at their Centre which is located at 506 Pitt Street in downtown Cornwall, Ontario (corner of Pitt and Fifth Streets).
Open to the community, this family-friendly FUNraiser will feature a special indoor BBQ café. Artists and crafters, vintage collectible items, puzzles and books will be featured. Volunteers will be on hand with a garden seed giveaway as well as an opportunity to tour the Centre’s unique Accessible Garden. Information on the Centre’s 2025 Fall lineup of programs, activities, and special events will also be available.
The BBQ will feature some of this year’s fruits of the Club’s Garden harvest. Garden Project Coordinator, Karen Douglass Cooper says, “For two years this fully accessible Garden has been providing a wonderful opportunity to local elders by giving them a chance to grow healthy food as well as discover traditional methods of canning and preserving fresh produce.” She adds, “We are especially grateful to our friends and neighbours from Akwesasne and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, dedicated volunteers, as well as local high school students from La Citadelle and CCVS who have continued to pitch in to make it all happen. Together we have been able to grow a community as well as some good food for this year’s BBQ and we could not be more pleased”.
