AROUND THE COUNTIES WITH SYLVIE.On June 28th, the third annual Run for Cornwall took place at Lamoureux Park. Over the last two years the event raised over $15,000 for the Cornwall Community Hospital. This year’s fundraiser, organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), a subsidiary of Mercy 4 Mankind was in support of The Agape Centre. Participants could choose from three distances: a 5K Run, a 3K Run, or 1K Family Fun Walk.Run for Cornwall 2026’s Chairman, Abdul Baisit led the opening ceremony which commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, and a few words from local dignitaries. Brenda Durochia, Community Engagement Coordinator for the Agapè Centre thanked everyone coming: “It’s a great support for our centre. It helps provide food sources for our food bank as well as our community kitchen.” The Agapè Centre serves over 3000 people monthly.
