Winter seemed endlessly tiring this year, and spring has been so long in coming, cold and damp, days and nights never ending. Longer nights or longer days, you can’t have it both ways for one is always getting shorter.
This year it has been a struggle for me to get motivated, but I must get myself moving, for staying inside and not interacting with others is not good for my mental health.
My soul is struggling. Taking control, I decided to volunteer to help CMHA with their Mood Walks, in part to help them out but also because I know this is going to give a healthy boost to my spirits as well.
If you are feeling down, as it has been for me, it may be just that you need to move, not around the house but outside, walk to the corner today and tomorrow around that corner. Two more corners and you have done the block! You will feel better, that I promise.
Maybe find a friend to share that walk with you, and make it a team event … maybe go alone. It doesn’t matter. Just move. Trust me. I know it is hard, but once you start, after that first step it gets easier. It gets enjoyable!
In one of the courses I help facilitate, asks the question “ How do you eat an elephant? The answer, of course, is “One bite at a time.” I know I must start slow and build up, and I know it works.
The less one does, the less one wants to do, and I, like many people, can be bad for not doing.
I invite you to join me pushing forward, to get stuff done, one bite at a time (barbecues are great for that!)
Summer is here. BBQ season, swimming season, fishing and hiking season. Days and nights spent doing these things will never be too long, and certainly will not be long enough.
