Community Supports LVHS

On April 12, an estimated 150 people attended the fundraising spaghetti dinner organized by members of the Ingleside-Long Sault-Lost Villages Lions club (ILSLV) in support of the Lost Villages Historical Society (LVHS). 

Members of the local community, historical organizations and area Lions clubs attended the event which raised $4,200 to help offset the cost of the restoration and conservation of artefacts at the Lost Villages Museum which were damaged by a mid-winter flood.

During the dinner, guests were entertained by local artists including Piper Ken Stephens, the MacCulloch Dancers and folk singers Ed O’Brien and Marie Cameron.  A significant number of donations were made to the silent auction which accompanied the event.

“We were all pleased with the turnout” said ILSLV Lions president Sharon Potvin, expressing how “The Lions are there to help our community in any way.

“The dinner was a huge success, both financially for the historical society and for awareness of the Lost Villages story to the community. It was overwhelming to see the community support and the encouragement and support from all our friends from the history and heritage organizations in our community.”  He thanked members of the ILSLV Lions for their generosity, mentioning how “The funds raised will go a long way in assisting the Lost Villages Historical Society in its recovery from the floods that occurred at the museum in January.”  He thanked the Lions for their work, commenting how the LVHS wish to thank Lion Carol Goddard  and the organizers for their work on bringing this “idea to a most successful conclusion.”
