From Mahatma Gandhi to Martin Luther King Jr., from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Aloka—the Peace Dog… who is currently on a historical pilgrimage with eighteen Buddhist monks – called The Walk of Peace.
On October 26 2025 18 Buddhist Monks from the Huong Dao VIPASSANA Bhavana Center. And their Peace dog they named Aloka lleft their sanctuary in Fort Worth, Texas to set out on a 2,300 mile pilgrimage headed for Washington DC. called the “Walk of Peace”. The humble Monks seek to spread the message of “peace, through loving kindness and compassion” not only in the US but across the World.
In an era marked by polarization and accelerated conflict, this pilgrimage has awakened the hearts of many. families stand by the roadside waiting patiently just to catch a glimpse of the Monks and the Peace dog! Crowds of people offer the Monks water and flowers ..children hold colourful handmade signs that say Peace, while strangers bow in silence as the monks pass.
Together, the monks and Aloka have engaged communities across geographic, cultural, and political divides. Their journey has prompted reflection, dialogue, and moments of collective stillness among people who might otherwise never pause to consider peace in their daily lives. In an era marked by polarization and accelerated conflict, this form of quiet engagement is both rare and deeply needed.
The name Aloka means Light……and in this case the brightest light on the path to peace…has paws…and that is why Aloka and the 18 Monks have been nominated for the 2026 Nobel Prize for PEACE!
May All Beings Be Happy!
