Yafa Arts & Crafts – Mandala’s Art …

I would love to share with you today more about the Mandala’s art and what it means. In the ancient Sanskrit language of Hinduism and Buddhism, mandala means “circle.” Traditionally, a mandala is a geometric design or pattern that represents the cosmos or deities in various heavenly worlds. “It’s all about finding peace in the symmetry of the design and of the universe,” says artist Saudamini Madra.

Mandalas are Buddhist devotional images often deemed a diagram or symbol of an ideal universe. Mandalas were produced in Tibet, India, Nepal, China, Japan, Bhutan, and Indonesia.

I have personally loved the pictures of the Mandala and all its designs since I saw them – but to start a design – it is a different pleasure.

Here in Cornwall, my friend Lou Bee introduced me to her designs and I was very surprised by her patience and her belief that the fun in the design is during the process itself and not the final product – and then I got to know my friend Monica Piotrowski – who definitely impressed me with her relationship with the Mandala and her designs that are all filled with spiritual messages.

Then I took a simple course to learn how to design a mandala – and I discovered that what is more important than the design is the spiritual process that accompanies every design – something magical. Today I would love to share with you some of the designs that I produced during the course and some after the course, where I could not stop designing the mandala.

I see in the circular shape, beauty and psychological comfort – just as each design has its own privacy, as if you are going through a journey whose goal is the journey in itself – not the arrival.
