Cornwall, Ontario – The Gemini Gala, a new local fundraising event, promises to be the talk of the town this summer. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Cornwall Civic Complex, starting at 7 PM.

The gala is a fundraiser for CUREA (Coalition for Unity, Respect, Equality/Equity for All), a non-profit racial justice and educational organization that seeks to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. The event’s theme is Truth, Reconciliation & Fashion, and it aims to shed light on the hard truths that we continue to face and unearth in our community, across the country, and beyond.

Kashenniiostha, the current CUREA Board President, is the mastermind behind this new event. She organized the gala to celebrate her birthday in a unique way by bringing people together for a good cause and a fun-filled night. The event promises to be a night to remember, featuring a fashion show highlighting beautiful designs from local Indigenous designers who have made their mark on the world.

But The Gemini Gala is much more than just a fashion show. The event will feature in-depth discussions with local leaders, including Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale, Akwesasne Mohawk Council Grand Chief Abram Benedict, Cornwall City Councillor Sarah Good, Cornwall City Councillor Fred Ngoundjo, St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Grand Chief Ron Lafrance, 2022 Cornwall Citizen of the Year Lee Theodore, and Cornwall City Councillor Carilyne Hebert. These local leaders will share their personal and community perspectives on the work being done for Truth & Reconciliation.

“We’re excited to incorporate these important discussions into an amazing night filled with fashion, music, dancing, and more,” said Kashenniiostha.

Tickets for The Gemini Gala are on sale now via Eventbrite. This summer, be a part of something special and support CUREA while enjoying a night of fashion and fun.
