The Ontario Nurses Association (ONA), the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), and the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (WeRPN) have joined together to honour the work of nurses. In the spirit of partnership, the three Associations launched the Nursing Now Ontario Awards this year, to promote the profession and showcase the formidable work that nurses are doing across the province.
After receiving 243 nominations, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre’s Patric Campeau was selected as the recipient of the inaugural award in the Registered Nurse category.
Patric was nominated by 10 future nurses that he mentored at St. Lawrence College, where he is a part-time professor for the RPN Program. According to one nominee, “Patric has no idea how much of a role model he is. He believed in me when no one did. He is my hero and deserves the world.” Many of the other nominees noted that he is a true team player and builder, with strong leadership skills and is always willing to assist.
The inaugural Nursing Now Ontario Awards honoured one NP, one RN and one RPN on May 12, 2020 via Zoom, in commemoration of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday.
