When you plan to buy the perfect earbuds for yourself or someone who loves music, it can be quite overwhelming to make a pick from the many different choices available. AirPods are an incredible choice, especially if you or someone you love already has an Apple device or an iPhone.

But, which AirPod should you pick? Should you go for the older version, that is, the Airpods 2, or choose the newer and the more expensive AirPods Pro.

Here, in this article, we will discuss the top difference between AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro, including the performance, design, price, and a lot more.

Let us take a look at all these aspects one by one.

Design

The design of both devices is invariably different. In AirPods 2, the device has a longer stem. On the other hand, in the AirPods Pro, the stem is stouter and shorter. It means that the second-generation AirPods will stick out more from your ears.

You can find the silicone tips equipped AirPods Pro in three different sizes. The AirPods Pro earbud offers a more comfortable and secure fit for the ears, regardless of their shape and size, shares Jasmine, an educator who offers assignment help services for students.

On the other hand, in AirPods 2, there is a one-size-fits-all design and a hard plastic encasing. So, this may feel a bit uncomfortable if you wear it for a long time.

With the Pro models’ silicone ear tips, the AirPod will not fall out from the ear as much. It is a prevalent problem that AirPod 2 users have experienced.

Of course, this can happen with the AirPods Pro, too. However, it is not something that users have complained about so far.

So, in this department, the AirPods Pro is the clear winner.

Audio Quality

The most significant difference between AirPods Pro and AirPods is that the new model has a way more superior audio quality compared to the former model, shares Anushka, an educator with TopAssignmentExperts. It is because the pro model comes with adaptive EQ and an active noise cancellation feature. Consequently, the audio quality in the Pro model is way more superior. These two features are absent in the AirPods 2 model.

With active noise cancellation, the environmental noises are blocked. So, this gives you a more impressive audio quality. More so with the AirPods Pro, you get one inward-facing microphone and an outward-facing microphone, which work well to detect the unwanted noises and cancel them for phenomenal audio.

In the Pro model, the noise cancellation is adjusted 200 times every second. So, they are incredible at canceling out the outside noises. However, they do not block all the high or low-pitched noises, such as those generated from the loud engines or the ones from the fans. More so, activating the noise cancellation feature often exerts a certain kind of pressure onto the ears.

There is also a transparency mode in the Pro model. So, you can hear what is happening around you without having to pause the music. All you need to do is pinch any one of your earbuds, and the buds will switch from noise cancellation mode to transparency mode. All of these features are absent in the Pro model, but they are still good quality buds.

Now, the thing is, even if we turn off all these extra features, the Pro model still delivers a better sound output compared to the AirPods 2 model. Given their tight fit, the Pro model can deliver finer audio, especially in terms of treble and bass.

So, in this department, the AirPods Pro is the clear winner.

Controls

In the AirPods, there are touch controls, which you tap and activate. On the other hand, there is a small ridge on both the stems that you pinch in the Pro model. Since the pinch controls are a bit difficult for you to use, there are a few additional control options in the Pro model.

To play or pause the ongoing song, you will have to pinch the AirPods Pro once, and in the AirPods 2, you can do the same by tapping on it. To skip to the next song, you will have to pinch the AirPods Pro once, and in the AirPods 2, you can do the same by tapping on it twice. You can go back to the previous track in the Pro version when you punch on the stem thrice. You can even hold the stem and pinch it to alternate between the transparency modes and active noise cancellation.

In both of the earbuds, AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro, there are no touch controls to let you increase or decrease the volume, shares Nathan, an associate who offers java homework help. Well, yes, that is quite a bummer. However, you can do it via your phone or ask Siri to do it for you.

So, in this department, the AirPods Pro is the clear winner.

Performance

Both the earbuds are engineered with an H1 chip. So, as for the performance, both of them allow quick pairing and efficient voice activation. So, the processor enables longer talk time and faster phone connection.

So, in this department, there is a tie.
