Hope you all had a beautiful long weekend. 2 busy days, Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st, yesterday some gardening and today I finally found a bit of time so I can finally write my OUT and ABOUT article.

I do hope that many of you got to visit the artists on Pitt Street just outside The Happy Popcorn Co., where from 8am to 8pm this past Saturday, they were doing a 12 hour Art-A-Thon, a Fundraiser and awareness raising for the upcoming Artwalk which will be taking place on Friday, August 27th from 4pm to 8pm. On this day, Cornwall’s Downtown will be transformed into Cornwall’s very own Art Sector! I’m so excited as the Artwalk is always such a great chance to visit with our local talented artists and artisans and watch them in action as well as watch the performing and musical talent, but of course, even though many are double vaccinated, I think it’s still best to exercise caution and protect yourselves with masks, hand sanitizing and social distancing wherever we go. Just look at the reduction in flu cases this past year as we have been practicing these simple things.

Well it certainly was exciting to stumble upon the 2 special guest artists, Vincent Van Gogh (aka Lee Ladouceur) who was painting his famous sunflowers and Pablo Picasso (aka Linda Geisel) who was painting a self portrait.

During the 12 hours, 15 artists took part in the Fundraising event and it was wonderful to see activity in the downtown core. Of course having busy patios at the restaurants is wonderful and I got to see so many peeps who I haven’t seen in so long!

Seeker Chick Julia and I do a segment in our Monday Morning Motivation Show which is called “Monday Munchies Taste Test” where we sample interesting items from local stores and a friend of mine’s daughter suggested that we try Bean Boozled Jelly Beans which have very interesting and unique flavours. (My friend Kristin and her daughter are seen in the photo above outside The Happy Popcorn Co.) I picked these suggested goodies up (along with a few other items that you see Bill Halman packing up for me) at The Happy Popcorn Co. located 109 Pitt Street – (613) 937-2677 – thehappypopcornco.com – You will have to check out the show when we return on Monday, August 16th at 10am on the Seeker Facebook Page to see what our reaction is … but I will sneak two of the flavours in here to peak your interest!!! Stinky Socks and Canned Dog Food!!! (Side note – Julia is on a 2 week vacation to the East Coast so I’m sure we will have lots to talk about.

Next I checked out who was at the Pop Up Shop Containers on the way to Cornwall Square. There were two jewellery shops, I’m Just Clayin” (polymer clay earrings) and Sarah Lauzon with “Little Dove Boutique”. Both girls had beautiful hand made jewellery and other items on display. Also Jason of Bud’s Records was also there. Here is another place that you need to visit if you are into vinyl records. Bud’s is located at 375 11th Street East in Cornwall – 613-936-BUDS (2837) and you can also visit their website at Budsrecords.ca or check them out on Facebook. You will also find I’m Just Clayin and Little Dove Boutique on Facebook as well.

My next stop was, Modern Primitive, my favourite store upstairs at Cornwall Square. If you haven’t been there yet, what are you waiting for? Like I say though, when you go you definitely need to make sure you have at least an hour or more to look around as there is way too much to see. You can also visit their website at: www.modernprimitive.ca Modern Primitive supplied all the henna that Yafa Goawily used to decorate people’s hands at the Art-A-Thon on Pitt Street. While on Pitt Street I also visited Tilly’s Eatery and Delicatessen – 101 Pitt Street, (613) 875-7819 – tillyseateryanddeli.com, where I picked up a Quiche Danish. soooo good but I unfortunately ate it before I could take a pic!

So here is my haul for Saturday – I also stopped by the Dollar Store in Cornwall Square and picked up these wonderful Fall themed Gnomes as everyone who knows me that I am obsessed with Gnomes! I can’t believe that all the Halloween Decorations are already out in the stores though…

On Saturday night Julia bought over her little dog Mimi for me to “Dog Sit” til Sunday evening as they were leaving on their trip out East and needed a Dog Sitter for one night. I was a little leery on how this would pan out as we have three cats but everyone got on well and I was actually happy to have a walking partner.

This little dog is actually quite old but so full of energy and Sunday morning we walked all the way from Fourth Street to the Civic Complex to The Cornwall Waterfront market as I love going there to pick up my veggies. The market was still pretty busy despite it being a bit of a cloudy start. My market haul was quite large as usual. It was nice having a little doggy companion and it is interesting how walking a dog connects you to other dog owners and a whole new other world! I was actually quite sad when Julia’s son came to pick her up on Sunday evening as he was looking after her for the two weeks while her family is away on their trip.

Monday was spent in the garden relaxing and gardening and now it is back to selling for the September Issue of the Seeker and maybe a bit of OUT and ABOUTing as well of course! Btw I bet you can’t guess what my favourite colour for flowers is!!!

If you see me around town say hi … and remember to Take Care and Stay Safe!
