At this time of year, when cleaning the house is a priority, the first crystal in the witch’s tool box to be used is often selenite. Of all the crystals available, few are better for clearing energy than selenite.

Selenite is a variety of the mineral gypsum, named after Selene, the Goddess of the moon in Greek mythology.

In the past, thin sheets of selenite were used for windowpanes, and smaller pieces were used for glasses.

Angel wing selenite (or fishtail selenite), has a feathery kind of appearance and is used for connecting with guides and angels.

Selenite is a high-vibrational stone, so it raises the energy of the environment in which it resides. Put pieces of selenite on window ledges; your house is being charged as the sun passes through the crystal.

Another benefit of selenite is that it can enhance one’s spirituality or meditation practice. Since it helps to clear energy, incorporating this crystal into your practices and rituals can help you clear your mind.

Selenite can be used to charge and clear other crystals.

To clean your body of unwanted energies, sweep the body from hand to toe with this crystal. Simply sweep and hold the intention to remove any energy that’s not for your highest good. Please note to not use selenite with water as it dissolves in liquid.

Other uses include: putting selenite under your pillow for a good night’s sleep, balancing your chakras, and protecting the home.

Selenite comes in all shapes and sizes, from crystals to hold in your hand to pieces shaped like a wand or a needle.

As you can see, selenite has a myriad of uses and benefits, with energy clearing being its most important property.

Tarot – The Moon

The Moon card is the 18th card of the Major Arcana. The Moon card shows a full moon in the night’s sky, positioned between two large towers. In the foreground is a small pool, representing the watery, subconscious mind. A small crayfish crawls out of the pool, symbolizing the early stages of consciousness unfolding. A dog and a wolf stand in the grassy field, howling at the moon, representing both the tamed and the wild aspects of the mind.

Are you projecting fear into your present and your future, based on your past experiences? This card reminds you that you have memories pushed down in your unconscious. It is time to release whatever has been holding you back using hypnosis, therapy, or a shamanic healing. Nothing is as it seems, so more information is needed before you take action. Now is the time to listen and trust your intuition. Feel rather than think. Release your mental blocks or negative self talk. Be guided by your intuition. Check your lunar cycles and connect with your divine feminine.

Until next time, May Brigid’s mantle enfold you and keep you warm.

Every month there is a full moon healing ritual. Contact me at the email below if interested.

In May, at the library there is a free course on how to use the pendulum. See the Library Home Page or contact me at [email protected] about this course or anything else that you might have questions about.
