The City of Cornwall’s popular Touch a Truck event — which saw thousands of visitors learn more about attend last year — will be hosted on August 24.
The free event will take place right in front of the Cornwall Civic Complex, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. A sensory friendly portion of the event will again be hosted from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
“Our Touch a Truck event is an excellent way for Cornwall families to learn all about the important services that are offered to them by our City,” said Communications Officer
Francis Racine. “I invite everyone in Cornwall to attend this great and free event!”
In addition to being able to get a closer look at many of the City of Cornwall’s vehicles, such as plows, police cruisers, street sweepers, ambulances and more, residents will also have the opportunity to learn more about various City departments.
“An interactive event like this enables us to reach Cornwall families and to really deliver an important message — that we, as a City, are there for them,” said General Manager of Human Services and Long-Term Care Mellissa Morgan. “We always look forward to hosting Touch a Truck.”
As in previous years, the City’s biggest sprinkler will also make an appearance, thanks to the Cornwall Fire Service.
“It’s always a pleasure seeing all of the smiling faces that attend our Touch a Truck events,” said Cornwall Fire Services Deputy Chief, Leighton Woods. “We thoroughly enjoy being able to deliver our safety message all the while having fun.”
This year’s Touch a Truck event will once more conclude with a free family movie at Lamoureux Park’s bandshell, complete with free bags of popcorn (limited supply). The movie will start at 8:15 p.m. The title of the movie will be released closer to the event date.
A vendor will also be on site to sell food and drinks leading up to the movie. For more information, please contact the City’s Communications Officer, Francis Racine at fr*****@co******.ca .
