OUT and ABOUT with Seeker Chick Mai-Liis – checking out this young man’s Arks Harvest Haul

I am starting to see some new stores opening up at Cornwall Square and one store in particular that I finally got to visit and was quite impressed with is Ark’s Harvest, located on the ground floor of the mall. Even though it was almost at closing time when I ventured in (last Saturday) I still got to fill my basket with many assorted fruits and veggies and it only cost me $25. Half a basket is $15 and up to the handles is $35. The baskets are filled with regular items and they also have a few racks with specialty items that are individually priced.

While there, I even got to visit  with one of my youngest friends, Julien, (seen in the header photo) who was proud to show me what his mother had in her basket. She shops here to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables from which she makes his meals instead of purchasing jars of baby food and not knowing exactly what is in them.

Arks Harvest in Cornwall is open only on Saturdays from 9:30am to 4pm. It is a food share program and this non-profit organization, based in Vankleek Hill, provides fruits and vegetables at a lower cost than at most grocery stores.

Check out my basket and the haul that I got for $25.

They are always looking for volunteers and even though you don’t get paid you get to fill your Arks Harvest bag with fruits and veggies to take home. What’s more rewarding and better than this. You get to volunteer and help out and go home with a big bag of healthy eats! If they get enough volunteers they will be able to open more days than just the one.

For more info visit www.arksharvest.com or check them out on Facebook. Better still come and visit them today and every Saturday at Cornwall Square, 1 Water Street East.
