Fashionably Marlene – The Holiday Season

Hello and Welcome to the very last month of the year. November has come and gone with such lovely warm and sunny weather for the Autumn season here in Cornwall, Ont. It’s now the time to get thinking of the upcoming Winter and the HOLIDAY SEASON! We have to decide the different kinds of foods, drinks, gifts and of course our Christmas apparel to look and feel our very best when we get together with our family, friends, and our work or school colleagues.

There are a lot of things to contemplate about our “Party Look” for all of the different types of “Festive Gatherings” at this time of year. What are we to wear for the work Xmas party? Or to a Xmas outing? Or to relaxed family and friend gatherings? Well, let me help you with all of that. When choosing to invest in pieces.. Do look for clothing that you can wear in a variety of ways and in different settings.. by changing the feel or formality with styling tricks and accessories will certainly help. The key to all of this is to select “quality fabrics” in versatile patterns and colours, and of course “Classic Cuts.” You can also think of renting as an option.

For the 2024 Xmas Season.. “BIG IS IN”.. like Flynn! BIG statement sleeves, are taking flight. They are ideal for parties where the dress code calls for something a bit more BOLD! Romantic Ruffles, Puffs and voluminous ‘70s inspired fluted sleeves paired with sleek tailoring for a balanced silhouette will certainly do the trick.

What says Xmas better then GLITTER OR SPARKLE? You all know me.. I’m all about the SPARKLE! Well, we can choose sparkling tops to go along with shimmering skirts, and or pants. If you want to make a BIG Statement, then wear a fully sequined skirt or dress. But, if you want to be more demure.. then pair up a glittery sweater, or top with any other piece of black clothing. All of these choices can be worn for formal or to informal parties. IT’S OUR CHOICE! We can’t forget about the footwear. This is a chance to be BIG & BOLD and wear sparkling and glittery shoes and boots to go along with our gorgeous outfits.

Another go to look for this season is the “Sheer Trend.” This is a lovely way to add a feminine feel to our look that can be playful and oh, so sophisticated. Wear a sheer shirt over a silky camisole, or sheer lace pants with a pale coloured bodysuit for a textured look. Layering is Queen here, with a lovely woolen coat over making for such a chicest look. Sheer flat party shoes are BIG this season. BOWS are also IN this year from adorned garments to whimsical accessories.

May you all have a wonderfully FUN time with your loved and liked ones during the XMAS & NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS! Until Next Year… Keep STYLIN’ & SMILIN’!

Sincerely Yours, Fashionably Marlene
