The 30th Annual Big Buck Hunter’s Ball, organized and hosted by John Locke from Fence Depot & More and his team and held at the Cornwall Civic Complex on Saturday, January 25th, was a great success. The event welcomed over 740 attendees, who began arriving at 3:00 pm and stayed until 10:30 pm, enjoying a fantastic evening filled with camaraderie and celebration. Hunters and sportsmen from Ontario and Quebec came together for this highly anticipated gathering.

Every guest received a gift bag packed with generous donations from local businesses, adding a special touch to the experience. The meal featured a delicious serving of wild game spaghetti and wild game chili, which proved to be such a hit that many went back for seconds! A delightful cake, courtesy of Baxtrom’s – Your Independent Grocer, rounded off the feast perfectly.

In the last photo you can see Gord Lamoureux and Greg Weiss from the CCFR (Canadian Coalition for Firearm Right), enjoying Wild Game Spaghetti. Mr. Weiss addressed the crowd of proud hunters about the importance of protecting Canadians right to own firearms.

Excitement filled the air with raffles offering major prizes totaling $35,000, with the grand prize—a brand new 2025 Yamaha ATV valued at approximately $15,000, generously provided by Irwin Supply—going to the lucky winner, Johanne Chowhan.

The event received incredible support from the City of Cornwall, including Mayor Justin Towndale and his wife Sarah Beach, as well as MP Eric Duncan. The backing of local businesses across the SDG area was outstanding.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Big Buck Committee, whose hard work and dedication made this event possible: Charles Marleau, Laurie & Marc Legue, Leslie Irwin & Marc Donnelly, Cindy McGillis, Brian Seguin, John & Manon Locke, Justin Locke, Glenn Booth, and Frances Hamilton.

Special appreciation to the amazing kitchen team led by Cindy McGillis, Angie McGillis, and Chris Barque, whose efforts ensured everyone enjoyed a hearty meal. A big thank you also goes to the Cornwall Lions Club for their generous support and valuable time in helping make the event a success.

Glenn Booth from Anything Goes Pawn MCd the event and was interviewed this past Monday (January 27th) on the “Monday Morning Motivation with the Seeker Chicks” podcast to talk about the event and how it has evolved over the years. You can click HERE to see the full podcast.

All left over food was donated to a local charity Centre 105 in Cornwall.

Here’s to another fantastic year, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the next Big Buck Hunter’s Ball!
