There are a few events that signal to me that Spring time is upon us and one of these is the Focus Art 2025 Spring Exhibition that is taking place on the second floor of Cornwall Square, located at 1 Water Street East in Cornwall.

When you enter the show be sure to stop at the Welcome Table and pick up your ballot so as you are walking around you can choose your favourite piece and enter it for the “People’s Choice Award”.

A New Era for City Services: Cornwall Unveils Major Upgrades at the Municipal Works Yard

Each year it is in a new location depending on availability of space but I think this year it is in the most perfect gallery-type setting. The natural brick offset by beige walls with the unique groupings of art make it a show that you really don’t want to miss. The beauty of having such a show at Cornwall Square is that it draws in many people who might never visit an Art Gallery but because they are already walking by they are drawn in to check the space out and while I was there it was wonderful to hear young adults admiring and talking about the paintings.

I visited on the afternoon of the Vernissage, April the 5th, when many of the artists were present and above you see photos of many of the artists with their paintings.

Below are a few of the photos from the walls of the gallery but there are many more nooks and crannies with great works that you will be able to discover when you stop by yourself.

This Exhibition showcases the work of over 30 local artists, each with up to three pieces totaling almost 100 pieces altogether so there is a large variety of styles in various mediums.

Admission to the show is Free and you can visit til this coming Sunday the 13th of April. Opening hours are: Thursday, April 10th and Friday, April 11th from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday, April 12th from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and Sunday, April 13th from 11 am to 3 pm.

Focus Art will be celebrating 20 years this year and in the window of the Gallery Space you will see 3 easels set up. The easel on the far left holds artwork of Patricia Fish, the easel in the centre holds a painting of where the Focus Art adventure began, on Sydney Street at Sue’s Art Gallery and the easel on the right holds artwork by Patricia Campbell. Patricia Fish and Patricia Campbell are two of the founding members who have passed but under Patricia Fish’s painting (far left) is a photo of all of the Founding Members, the Board of 2005 some of who have paintings in this show.
