The City of Cornwall is announcing a series of public engagement initiatives aimed at gathering valuable community input for the 2026 municipal budget. Residents are invited to participate and play an active role in shaping the city’s priorities for the coming year.

From October 29 to November 5, Cornwall residents can share their feedback through an online public survey available on the City of Cornwall website. This survey offers an important opportunity for community members to voice their opinions on budget priorities and municipal services. Paper copies of the survey will also be available at City Hall for those who prefer them.

In a move to foster youth involvement in civic matters, the City is launching a dedicated student survey for the first time. Local schools are encouraged to participate, giving students the chance to express their views on the municipal budgeting process. Educators are invited to integrate the survey into classroom activities, promoting civic awareness and engagement among students.

To show appreciation for public participation, individual survey respondents will be entered into a draw for a pizza supper. Classrooms that complete the student survey will have the opportunity to win a pizza party, making the engagement process both meaningful and rewarding.

Mayor Justin Towndale highlighted the importance of public engagement, stating, “We are continuing our public engagement strategy with our annual budget Resident Café and survey. I encourage everyone to provide constructive feedback that will help the City during the 2026 budget process.”

In addition, all community members are invited to attend the Resident Café on December 11 between 5 pm and 7 pm at the Benson Centre. This in-person event offers a unique opportunity to meet City staff, ask questions, and learn more about the 2026 budget process. The Resident Café aims to foster open dialogue and transparency between the City and its residents.

The City of Cornwall values the perspectives of all residents and looks forward to your participation in these public engagement opportunities. For more information, to access the survey, or to find details about the Resident Café, please visit www.cornwall.ca.
