From social media posts, to blog posts and video content there are so many ways to create content, which leads on perfectly for this article.
Below, we have put together our guide on 6 pieces of tech every content creator needs. From a drone like the Avata 360 to a DSLR or Mirrorless camera to capture high quality images, there are plenty of ways to improve your content creation. Keep reading to learn more and potentially find the missing piece to what we already hope is a great content creation kit.
Drone
Drones are something a lot of creators don’t have, but can make a huge difference in your offering and the content you can create. They allow you to capture images or video footage from above, whilst also giving you a unique offering which you could get paid for. You can use them to create unique angled footage as well as capture 4k footage, which you can then use on sites like Youtube, Facebook and Tiktok.
Film Camera
In today’s world, it’s so important to capture film footage when you can. Film gives you the opportunity to explain what you do as well as easily show what you do, which in the past could be hard to do. Social media is so important for marketing, for which film is used a lot now, with more people posting videos on Instagram then photos – which it was originally created for. With a good film camera, creators can produce high-quality video content that captures attention, tells a story and helps them connect with their audience more effectively.
There are so many different types of film cameras out there that you can use. But if you are starting out, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is very popular at the moment or you could buy an entry level mirrorless camera. Sony is known to produce some great cameras which are really good for beginners and advanced creators.
DSLR/Mirrorless Camera
Having high quality imagery is another area of marketing which is very important. Too many people rely on using their phone photos to market their business, even though this can be detrimental. By using a DSLR or Mirrorless camera, you can take the highest resolution photos, which can really show in detail what you offer – if you sell a product this can be the key to making more sales or not. If you don’t have the budget, or want to invest in other pieces of tech for your business, consider using a photographer to come in for the day and take some photos as you could really benefit from this.
Lighting Equipment
If you are going to invest in your tech and buy new pieces of equipment like a DSLR, a drone and a filming camera, then you are going to benefit from having some lighting equipment. Lighting is very useful when shooting indoors or in environments where natural light is limited. Tools such as ring lights, LED panels and softboxes can help reduce shadows, highlight important details and ensure your subject is clearly visible. With the right lighting setup, creators can produce consistent, high-quality visuals regardless of the conditions they are filming in.
A Quality Microphone
Audio is often overlooked even though it’s as important as all the other pieces of equipment you are using. You can have the best camera, a nice lighting set up but if you don’t have high quality audio to accompany this, the whole production can really feel let down. We’ve all been there when watching a Youtube video which is really interesting but the creator hasn’t used good audio, which makes it a really frustrating watch.
Investing in a dedicated microphone is going to make a difference and could be the way to take your videos from good to excellent and take you to the next level overall with all the content you produce. When buying microphones, the best thing to do is watch some microphone review videos online as there are some tech creators out there that do really in depth reviews. There will also be plenty of blog posts you can read as well as reading previous customer feedback on the products.
Editing Software
Similar to what we said above about audio – you can capture the best content and audio for that matter, but if you don’t edit it nicely, then it’s all pointless. Editing is where creators refine their visuals, adjust colours, cut footage and add finishing touches that bring everything together. It’s important to have a good piece of editing software as this will give you access to more and better features as well as make the editing process a lot easier.
A video editing softwares which we know are used frequently include Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro. If you are new to editing, you will probably find CapCut or Apple iMovie the two best softwares to start off with as they are very user friendly.
We hope our guide has given you some useful points into becoming a better content creator and taking your content to the next level. You don’t need to go and buy everything from our guide to improve, but making one or two changes like going from a phone camera to a professional camera or using a drone can make a big difference.
