TORONTO — Mark your calendars, Ontario! The next Ontario election is officially set for February 27, 2025. Premier Doug Ford confirmed today that the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, has accepted his advice to dissolve the 43rd Parliament of the Province of Ontario. This dissolution will take effect at 4:00 p.m. today, signaling the start of the election period.

In accordance with the Election Act, writs for the general election will be issued tomorrow, January 29, 2025, officially kicking off the campaign. Over the next month, Ontarians will hear from political leaders as they pitch their vision for the province and work to secure your vote.

This election comes at a critical time for Ontario, as issues such as health care, housing affordability, and climate change continue to dominate public discourse. Voters will also have the chance to weigh in on the Ford government’s record over the past term, including its handling of education, the COVID-19 recovery, and recent controversies around Greenbelt land development.

While the campaign will inevitably heat up over the coming weeks, February 27 will be the day Ontarians decide who will govern the province for the next four years. Whether it’s a return to power for Doug Ford and the Progressive Conservatives or a shift in leadership to one of the opposition parties, the stakes are high.

As the election approaches, it’s important for all eligible voters to ensure they’re registered and ready to cast their ballot. Ontario’s future is in your hands, and your vote will shape the path forward.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the election, including candidate profiles, debates, and updates on key issues.
