It was with great sadness that we heard the news that Naresh Bhargava is no longer with us.
I would like to give a brief introduction about Mr. Naresh Bhargava through your newspaper.
He came to Canada in 1960 and settled in Cornwall for a job. He was a chemical engineer by profession. He was the main developer of the BASF plant in Cornwall. He was also involved in municipal politics in Cornwall for twelve years. He served as a councillor for the Cornwall City Council four times. He last served as a councillor in 2003 and then retired.
Now I would like to share a few things about my personal relationship with him.
I first met Naresh Bhargava when I moved to New in Cornwall from Toronto. It was in 1997.
Since he was also a Cornwall city councillor and I am also associated with the media, we developed a relationship.
In 2015, I went to his house in Riverdale and interviewed him for our newspaper. We continued to talk after the interview. His wife also served delicious tea and cookies.
Then during this time, I temporarily lost contact with him, because of his moving to Ottawa.
Last year, I went to Riverside Hospital for my annual appointment. After the appointment, I came down from the fifth floor to the ground floor, and suddenly I saw Bargava with a walker. I was very happy. We chatted and took a selfie with him. That was the last time I met him. Anyway, he was a very cheerful, good person. May God Almighty forgive him and give patience to his family. Aameen.
