Welcome to our new blog series, where Bill and I take you on a weekly journey to discover the hidden gems of South Glengarry in Eastern Ontario. Over the course of 21 weeks, we’ll share our favourite attractions and activities in the area, all based on our personal experiences. Let’s begin exploring the incredible South Glengarry, stretching from the St. Lawrence River to Valleyview Road and from Boundary Road to the Quebec border.

Reason #5: Henderson’s Grocery Store, Rob McIntosh Unique Shops, Aberdeen Gift Shop & Millworks and Co. in Lancaster

Our favourite place to pick up groceries is Henderson’s Grocery Store in Lancaster. Whether it’s the smell of fresh baked goods in the bakery or watching the butcher cut your favourite roast or seeing the vibrant colours of the local produce, you always feel at home here. The friendly owners (Donald and Sylvie Longtin) and staff are always helpful and approachable. With not only basic staples but also specialty products and ready-made meals available, we always find something yummy to bring home.

If you are looking to pick up some unique gifts, stop in at Rob McIntosh’s or Aberdeen Gift Shop or Millworks and Co. in Lancaster. You will often find unique and interesting items and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. Our home has puzzles, candles, fudge, foot stools, kitchen tools all obtained from these Lancaster shops! In fact, we bought our family a set of “Glengarry My Home” hoodies from Aberdeen Gift Shop!
