OUT and ABOUT with Seeker Chick Mai-Liis: Walking for Paul (Bellemore).

A year ago on August 2nd Sheldon Grant and I were at the bandshell taking down the sound equipment after the band finished at Arts in the Park and we saw people walking up and down the river behind the bandshell. Shortly after that we found out what was going on. 

They were looking for an individual named Paul Bellemore who had been reported missing. His car, a beloved blue BMW had been found parked near the front of the Civic Complex but it was like Paul had disappeared. My oldest son, Kristian and Paul were good friends and knowing Paul who was close to his family, it seemed strange that he would suddenly vanish.

Here we are, a whole year passed and to this day Paul hasn’t been found. This is so sad and I think about him often and also his family who desperately need some form of closure.

So when I heard that a walk had been planned for Paul on Wednesday, August 2nd at 7pm, starting from where his car had been found to where he was last seen along the riverbank, I felt that I needed to join his family on this day to walk the walk for Paul.

I know his family and friends will never give up until he is found but as I walked alongside his sister Chantal, we talked about how he might at this very moment be with Kristian (my oldest son who passed suddenly from a heart attack on November 24th, 2021), “chillin” and having a beer together.

Chantal thought there would just be a few people meeting for the walk but as you can see Paul has a lot of people who are thinking about him and came to walk and release balloons and lanterns for him.

Who knows,  maybe one day Paul will re-appear and surprise us all. Until that day I send BIG Hugs to Paul and his family who have all been through such a tough year not knowing where he is. If anyone has any information please come forward as his family has suffered enough.
