Cornwall Colts take 2-0 series lead over Bears with Double OT win

Cornwall Ontario – The Cornwall Colts needed double overtime to beat the Smiths Falls Bears 4-3 Friday night. The win gives the Cornwall Colts a 2-0 in their first round CCHL series.

Ethan Mulhearn scored his first goal of the playoffs 7:59 into the 5th period in Smiths Falls. It was the second straight game to go to overtime.

Konnor MacCormick and Brennan Markell each scored their second goal in as many games for the Colts while Nick Lalonde notched his first of the post season.

William Searle scored twice to pace the Bears. Ryan Gibson also scored.

The Bears outshot the Colts 44-40. Liam Lascelle made 41 saves to earn the victory in goal.

The two teams return to Cornwall for game 3 in the best-of-seven series Sunday evening. Game time is 7pm at the Ed Lumley Arena.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30pm in Smiths Falls.
