Potsdam Chamber to Host Fall Celebration this Saturday

Potsdam, New York – The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce is set to host a new event to take place in Potsdam on this Saturday, September 21st.

The Fall Celebration will feature activities for all ages to help promote local businesses and welcome the new season. The day will kick off with a morning brunch, followed by a scarecrow decorating contest, pumpkin painting, read-alouds with Potsdam Library, live music in the gazebo of Ives Park and more.

The Taste of Oktoberfest will start at 4 pm on Fall Island. The Lantern Light Off in the evening will take place at 8:00 pm, where Chinese lanterns will be lit by community members both on Fall Island and in Ives Park.

This family-friendly event will be from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm in Ives Park, with the exception of Brunch at 10:00 am and the Taste of Oktoberfest ending at 9:00 pm.

Chamber Coordinator Kurstin Stowell says “I want to turn the attention to all of the wonderful businesses and organizations that Potsdam has to offer. Fall is the best season to do just that. Our winters are long and cold. Fall gives us that one last outdoor opportunity to get to know each other and utilize the benefits of living in a small community. I encourage everyone to come participate in this wonderful community event”

On this day, there will be other events throughout the town of Potsdam. The Potsdam AMVETS Post 282 will host their Family and Freedom Festival, the Rotary Club will be hosting their 9th annual Wheelchair Challenge, the Potsdam Food Co-op will host their Local Food Festival and SLC Arts will finish their Ives Park Concert Series.
