The in-person event and online stream will be hosted by Boom 101.9’s Dan Allaire and Bill Halman.
[CORNWALL, OCT 22] The United Way Centraide Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry is thrilled to share that its ninth annual Holiday Wine & Gourmet Tastings Gala, proudly supported by Marty Benson, will be on Saturday, November 20 at the Cornwall Golf & Country Club and streamed live on its Facebook page.
In 2020, the large annual gala was transformed into an at-home experience with food and wine delivered to ticket holders’ homes while the event was broadcasted live. This new format raised over $30,000 for our region during an extremely challenging year for fundraising.
“Last year we pivoted and had to really think outside the box of how we could turn an in-person gala of 500+ into an intimate setting for 50, but still open the event to 500+ at home! It was a great success having the event broadcast live on Facebook in part to our many great sponsors and host Shoeless Joe’s. This year, we’re excited to return to a new larger in-person gala broadcasted live via Facebook again and offer the gourmet take home charcuterie package with vintage wine that people raved about,” – said Karen and Ray Brunet, Wine Event Chairs.
This year’s hybrid event will include the best of the in-person and online experiences, including gourmet food, top-shelf libations, live music by The Chesterfields, live auction, online auction, a Facebook Live stream hosted by Boom 101.9’s Dan Allaire and Bill Halman, and a delicious charcuterie-style grazing box with high quality wine from Prince Edward County to enjoy from home.
All money raised for the event stays local and enables the United Way Centraide SDG to do its local work in poverty reduction and invest in 16 local agencies and 19 programs that are offering services such as essential skills training, mental health awareness, counseling, sexual assault support, and youth development.
“Although we have all been affected by the events of the past year, statistics are showing us that marginalized communities are amongst the ones that the pandemic has affected the most. The United Way is ensuring we all recover from this pandemic, but we are prioritizing these members of our community who can’t keep up with the cost of living while struggling with financial instability. They, now more than ever, need our support to make it through the coming months. That’s why this annual event is so vital to the work we do. The money raised will go towards helping our community recover in a way that leaves no one behind.” – said Juliette Labossière, Executive Director for the United Way Centraide SDG.
