South Stormont, ON – Since 2019, The Township of South Stormont has annually recognized a special young person in our community who has demonstrated a passion for helping their community through volunteer efforts with an annual Youth Volunteer of the Year Award. Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2021 recipient.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of any community, and we know we have some incredible youth in our Township who have begun to make a significant impact towards making South Stormont a better place to live,” says Mayor Bryan McGillis.
Nominees for of the South Stormont Youth Volunteer of the Year should be secondary school students who reside in South Stormont and have shown a passion and commitment to volunteering. This can include with their school, a sports team, a not-for-profit, a service club, church group, or informally in the community. We want to recognize the exceptional youth in our communities that share their time, talent, and energy for the betterment of our community and others.
We’re calling on our residents, local schools, and service groups to put forth nominations for the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award to help us recognize the efforts our youth have made to better their community.
The nomination process is simple.
- Identify an exceptional young person from South Stormont who has shown a commitment to volunteerism,
- Visit southstormont.ca/volunteer to fill out a nomination form and tell us about their efforts as a volunteer,
- Submit!
Nominations are due by June 1, 2022, and each submission will be reviewed by the Volunteer Appreciation Committee who will then select the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award recipient. Winners of the Youth Volunteer of the Year and the Fran Laflamme Volunteer of the Year will be announced at the Volunteer Appreciation Gala scheduled for August 19, 2022.
