Holidays in Cornwall! What’s open, what’s closed…

City of Cornwall council and staff would like to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! City facilities and services will be impacted over the holidays.

Municipal offices will be closed from Friday, December 22 at noon until Tuesday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m. Municipal Works can always be reached at 613-932-5354.

There will be no waste collection on Monday, December 25 and on Monday, January 1st. As such, waste collection will be pushed by one day for the week of December 25 and January 1st. If your regular collection day is Tuesday, it will occur on Wednesday and so on.

Residents will be allowed to put out four bags of garbage as opposed to two on the week of December 25. Additionally, Christmas tree collection will take place on the week of January 8.

The landfill will be closed on December 25 and January 1.

Residents will be able to put out one more garbage bag during their regular collection day during the week of December 26 to 30.

Always remember to put your bins on your driveway, or in a shovelled-out part of the boulevard — not on a snowbank. Collection staff can’t reach for bins on snowbanks. If your waste is left behind this winter, it may be because it wasn’t safely accessible.

The Benson Centre will be closed on December 24, December 25, December 31 and on January 1st.

The Aquatic Centre on the other hand, will be closed on December 24, December 25, December 26, December 31 and on January 1st.

Cornwall Transit buses won’t be running on December 25, December 26 and on January 1st.

The Cornwall Transit office will close at noon on December 22. It will be closed on both December 25 and December 26 and will close at noon on December 29. It will be closed again on January 1st.
