North Stormont Welcomes New CAO Chad Brownlee

BERWICK, Ontario – The Township of North Stormont is pleased to announce the appointment of Chad Brownlee as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Clerk, effective Dec.15, 2025.

Mr. Brownlee brings to the role more than 25 years of leadership experience in the education sector, coupled with over 30 years of dedicated community involvement. Most recently, he has served as the Superintendent of Human Resources and Schools with the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB), where he oversaw critical human-resources functions, board leadership, and school operations.

“On behalf of North Stormont Council, I am delighted to welcome Chad Brownlee to our team,” said Mayor Francois Landry. “Chad’s extensive leadership experience in education, combined with his longstanding commitment to community service, make him an outstanding fit for our Township. I look forward to working with Chad to advance our shared vision and serve our residents with excellence.”

In his career with the UCDSB, Mr. Brownlee has held roles such as Human Resources Specialist, Principal of Safe Schools as well as equity and inclusion, and leadership positions at several area schools including Char-Lan District High School, Williamstown Public School, and Tagwi Secondary School. His deep commitment to staff wellness and equitable leadership has helped foster a positive culture at the board level.

“I am honored and excited to join the Township of North Stormont as CAO/Clerk,” said Mr. Brownlee. “I have long admired the spirit, resilience, and strong community bonds of this Township, and I look forward to working closely with Council, staff, and residents to help our community thrive. Together, I’m confident we can build on North Stormont’s strengths, support local priorities, and shape a prosperous future for all.”

Beyond his professional background, Mr. Brownlee is deeply rooted in community service. He has served as a captain with the North Stormont Fire Service, president of NGS Minor Hockey, a member of the Finch Recreation Committee, and a member of the Finch & District Lions Club.
