As we know, earlier this year, after more than 55 years of making ready-to-assemble furniture right here in Cornwall, Ridgewood Industries officially closed its doors. The iconic manufacturing facility at 3305 Loyalist Street — a cornerstone of the Cornwall Business Park — is now in full liquidation mode, and locals looking for deeply discounted furniture and building materials have a limited window to take advantage.
Deals That Are Hard to Believe
I visited the site earlier this week walked away stunned by what was on offer. I bought a fireplace, a kitchen cabinet, a bookshelf, and a computer desk, all for $275. I couldn’t believe it. Deals like that are exactly what you can expect at the liquidation, where prices on remaining inventory have been slashed, and then slashed again — with an additional 30% off already-reduced prices on many items.

And if you just need wood for a project? They’re giving away loose wood for free. That’s right — free. Whether you’re a hobbyist, a contractor, or just someone handy around the house, this is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often.
The Story Behind the Closure
Ridgewood Industries, a subsidiary of Montreal-based Dorel Industries Inc., was a leader in ready-to-assemble furniture in North America for over half a century. The Cornwall plant employed approximately 300 people at the time of its closure announcement in July 2025. Dorel cited market pressures, U.S. market challenges, and overseas competition as the driving forces behind the difficult decision to wind down all North American manufacturing operations.
Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale called the closure “terrible news for our community,” acknowledging the significant impact on the hundreds of families who depended on the plant for their livelihoods. Despite the difficult circumstances, the company confirmed that employees received severance as layoffs unfolded.
Don’t Miss Your Chance
The liquidation sale is open to the public through the end of March 2026. Hours are officially Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, but be sure to follow their facebook group to watch out for any early departures. They are sometimes short staff and you wouldn’t want to hit your nose on the doors.
With inventory moving fast at these prices, it’s worth heading over sooner rather than later. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — and so is a piece of Cornwall’s industrial history.
