Or maybe, you have a job to do on the waters; one you cannot avoid. Whatever the case is, you will agree that the health of your boat or water vessel plays a vital role in ensuring you remain safe. You wouldn’t love the idea of going out on one of your numerous boating adventures and not return in one piece, because your vessel encountered rough waters or bad weather; would you?

One of the ways to ensure you remain entirely safe while out in open waters is by ensuring that your boat is in prime condition, and also that all possible boat upgrades are in place before you set sail.

Here are a few upgrades to carry out on your boat, to ensure it is fit for the perils of the sea. If you do not mind the physical exertion and also getting your hands a little dirty, some of them are simple hacks you can carry out yourself. If not, please seek the services of a professional.

Consider nano-ceramic coating

The weather and water conditions can often be unpredictable when you’re out in open waters, and this is not only dangerous for you but it could also do some damage to your boat. To help protect your prized possession, a suitable upgrade you may want to consider for your boat is nano-ceramic coating. With Ceramic coatings, you can easily protect your boat from the effects of harsh conditions and other toxic substances that are present in open water. When you treat your boat or yacht ( as the case may be ) with ceramic coating, you are simply making the surface of the boat to be very hydrophobic.

Upgrading or a total replacement of the boat canvas

The canvas of a boat plays a very vital role towards the general appearance of the boat and protection of the people within. It serves as the major covering from the harsh marine elements. Since the boat canvas is exposed to the harsh marine environment, it is quite advisable it is changed at least every five years.

Aside from the total overhauling of the canvas, other options would include

(1) changing the canvas colour, to give the boat a new look.

(2) adding a few screens or U-zipper windows in specific parts of the canvas. This could be done in order to let in more light.

(3) you might also want to consider adjusting the helm’s height to accommodate a taller captain, or reduce it if totally necessary.

Deck carpet replacement

Notwithstanding how protective of your boat you are, chances are that over the years, the deck carpet must have started wearing out due to constant use of the boat. Wouldn’t it be nice to replace that old, worn out carpet with something new, beautiful and plush?

Replacing your boat’s deck carpet serves quite a number of reasons including upgrading your boat’s look and contributing its own quota to your comfort. The good news is that you do not have to stick to a boring routine when it comes to changing the deck carpet. Quite a number of options to get this goal fulfilled exist. Such options include.

(1) You can have the manufacturers deliver to you a custom-made deck carpet. This way, you do not have to worry about the tedious job of trying to make, adjust and fit a new carpet yourself.

(2) Another option will be for you to go through the process yourself using boat deck carpet DIY kits, there are several video tutorials online which can help you with this.

Upgrade electronic gadgets to the latest models.

Nothing takes “cool” to a whole new level like having state-of-the-art gadgets within reach. Doing this will take your boat cruise from ‘amazing’ to insane levels of ‘phenomenal’. The most beautiful thing about this is that there are a lot of options available when it comes to upgrading the electronic system of your boat. Technology is evolving everyday, new gadgets are always being manufactured.

When looking to upgrade this system, be sure to look at the size and durability of the gadgets you want to install. Also, remember to factor in your budget; you do not want to be caught in a pile of debt afterwards. Another factor to consider is to ask yourself if this is a gadget you would need, especially if you go out to sea to fish. You’d want the latest technology out there to help you find the areas where there is an abundance of fish to catch.

So before you take your boat out onto the water again, you may want to consider some of the upgrades we discussed above. Especially if you take your boat out often, all the wear and tear will eventually start to show. Besides, getting a few upgrades done never hurt anyone, except maybe your wallet. Try these options out, and watch your boat transform and look good as new again.
