[CORNWALL, ON, JULY 28, 2021] – The Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce launches their new local, online event website, GetCurrent.ca, today.

GetCurrent is an online hub to search for local events happening in the Cornwall, Akwesasne, and SDG areas. GetCurrent includes a wide range of events from concerts, fairs and festivals, auctions, community events, and more. Eventgoers can find information on all the local events including event location, dates and times, and more details, all without leaving GetCurrent.ca.

“People are looking for events and things to do this summer that are local,” says Shannon Tierney, Executive Assistant of the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce. “GetCurrent makes finding them easy. No matter what kind of event you are looking for, you can find it on GetCurrent.ca.”

GetCurrent.ca is continuously adding new events daily, and event organizers are encouraged to contact GetCurrent.ca today to have their events added.

GetCurrent.ca offers local event organizers the ability to sell tickets directly through the website. Event organizers will have access to control the sale of tickets, track the number of people present, mange the back-end finances, and even scan tickets at the event, all directly through GetCurrent.ca.

“The purpose of the site is not only to make it easier for event goers to find something fun, and local to do” explained Greg Pietersma, Executive Director of the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce. “We realized there was a need for local event-organizers to sell tickets to their events. We are trying to respond to local needs, and offering a low-cost, full-featured ticketing app was one of those areas.”

Ian Bentley, owner of Bentley Hospitality and organizer of the popular Summer Socials at Pointe Maligne, is keen to use GetCurrent.ca’s ticketing platform. “(GetCurrent.ca’s) ticketing app is really easy to use. With COVID-19 restrictions limiting the number of people at events, this ticketing app will help me manage the number of people at my events and allow me to scan tickets right at the door.”
